Preparing for Thailand Conference

This week, the HRIS team is preparing for an upcoming meeting in Thailand – the Prince Mahidol Award Conference 2010 Global Health Information Forum on January 27-30, 2010. Dykki Settle, HRIS team lead, will attend the forum and will present a poster on Global HRIS Strengthening. Our communications team is now helping us design the poster, which will focus on the five-step HRIS strengthening process and iHRIS software, while highlighting results of using HRIS information to make evidence-based decisions about human resources for health.

The Prince Mahidol Award Foundation, with the support of the Health Metrics Network, World Health Organization, World Bank, Rockefeller Foundation and others, will hold the Global Health Information Forum. The forum will launch a ‘Call to Action’ to recognize that health information system (HIS) strengthening is critical to improving global health. It will gather stakeholders and provide a platform for renewing energy and commitment to investing in and building the capacity of HIS.

The forum has the following 4 objectives:

  1. Firmly position HIS as a strategic driver of health systems strengthening and performance management of broader development outcomes.
  2. Broaden and unite the constituency of potential allies behind a shared vision and action plan for HIS strengthening.
  3. Showcase HIS progress and capacity-building in developing countries.
  4. Secure high-level commitment to drive future action.

We are looking forward to this opportunity to share our work and learn what others are doing in the realm of HIS strengthening. If you are at the conference, please check out our poster and introduce yourself.
