Workshops Held for the Implementation of iHRIS in the Guatemala Ministry of Health

Two workshops were held in March for the Guatemala Ministry of Health as part of the implementation process of iHRIS Manage there. Guatemala is on the cusp of launching the first iHRIS implementation in Central and South American region. The system once implemented will enable the Ministry of Health to manage data on 34,000 health workers.

The first workshop, led by Central America/Caribbean iHRIS Regional Leader Marino Holguin, kicked off the two-year implementation process by defining the implementation plan, based on requirements submitted by different departments of the Ministry of Health. The second workshop, conducted by IntraHealth’s Senior HRH Informatician Dr. Carl Leitner and Ricardo Lopez, Capacity Project Information and Communications Technology Officer, trained systems analysts in using the open source platforms that iHRIS is built upon. A use cases model for a new contracts management module, to be jointly developed with Ministry of Health systems analysts, was also created. This module to manage new personnel contracts should be up and running by the end of March.
