Background

IntraHealth Namibia has been supporting Human Resources Information System (HRIS) strengthening in Namibia since 2008. We have been working with the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) and various stakeholders to support the establishment of a national HRIS focusing on the health workforce. In particular, IntraHealth is looking at implementing iHRIS Manage for three Faith Based Organizations (FBOs) in Namibia and will work with the FBOs to define and document their customization requirements.  IntraHealth Namibia will start an internship program to build a pool of local developers to support future customization of iHRIS Manage.  The Senior eHealth Fellows will provide technical support to the interns to implement the required customizations requested by IntraHealth for the iHRIS Manage implementation.  Furthermore he/she will ensure skills transfer to local interns and that the necessary technical documentation is in place.

SCOPE OF WORK:

The scope of work is to provide technical support to the interns in:

  • Installation of Ubuntu and the iHRIS software on the appliance;
  • Installation of the appliance and ensuring users can connect to it;
  • Customization of the iHRIS software;
  • Documentation of the iHRIS customizations for FBOs;
  • Assistance in building customized reports;
  • Customizations will be based on version 4.1 of the iHRIS software as customized for the western Africa region
  • Maintain regular communication with the Namibian HRIS team to ensure skills transfer and to ensure customizations are as intended
  • Provide proper documentation on installation of customized iHRIS, backup procedures, and other topics as needed
  • Write at least one blog article about the development process and which contains the consultant’s contact information

 

EXPECTATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  1. The applicant should be available for up to ten hours of on-line support per week during the period of the eHealth fellowship program referenced above (6 months duration);
  2. Proven experience in installation and customization of the iHRIS Manage software;
  3. Work closely with the IntraHealth HRIS advisor throughout assignment to coordinate and prioritize eHealth Fellows projects;
  4. Write documentation needed by IntraHealth in support of its iHRIS eHealth Fellows program.

Methodology and Available Resource Materials

The chosen candidate will have access to the iHRIS Manage resources available through CapcityPlus, the Namibian HRIS team members as well as all needed documentation.

Location

Global with possible visits to Windhoek, Namibia to ensure skills transfer and implementation of iHRIS Manage for at least one FBO by September 2012

Period of Performance

The assignment will take place during July-September 2012

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English.
  • Documented experience in customizing iHRIS
  • Documented experience in providing remote support for iHRIS
  • Ability to work well with a team
