Expansion of Capacity Project’s iHRIS Software Underway in Uganda

The Department of Human Resources Management at the Uganda MOH recently requested the Capacity Project’s assistance in implementing iHRIS Manage, the Project’s free Open Source software that tracks health workers throughout their employment. The MOH will use the software to monitor the number of health workers by cadre and district and to search for open positions. The MOH’s director of planning requested that the Project install iHRIS Manage as soon as possible to ensure that the MOH will have current information for planning and management. The newest version of iHRIS Manage integrates easily with iHRIS Qualify, the Project’s training, licensure and certification tracking software, which is already being used by the country’s four health councils. Implementation of iHRIS Manage is underway at the central level; the software is also being piloted in two districts, Mbale and Lira, with the intent of expanding to all districts in the future.
